Aside from attending a lot of panels I also got some really good cosplay shots at the con.
A classic Kagura from Fruits Basket, complete with plush backpack.
My pick for all time best cosplay. Emma fits right in with the decor, doesn't she?
He's got the attitude down, now to turn down the volume on the hair!

He doesn't have the bangs, but other than that, good job!
I was supposed to be a soul reaper but the black kimono didn't turn out. Oh well, I think I look kinda cool like this.

Outside the hotel I found some fascinating architectural examples. If only the best ones had turned out.
Note, that hedge across the street does not lead to a park. It's actually someone's home. Wow, the people here must be loaded!
The hotel is even more impressive in the day time.

And it's own wildlife sanctuary.
However, it doesn't come with a number of things I've become accustomed to receiving from much **much** cheaper places. Free continental breakfast, free wireless access, more than just a few basic cable channels, all for well under a hundred bucks a night and in a room that's about the same size as the one we were crammed into.
I really don't *care* if the inaugural ball has been held here since Roosevelt! I am **not** spending 4-digits on a room that doesn't even have internet access!

Not much, actually.
I discovered a large sheet of white cloth and Mom gave me permission to cut it up. So now I have the kimono part of my Ms. Kaoru costume.
Now I need a wig, hakama, a pair of white ninja socks, and a pair of those straw sandles the Japanese wear. I hope to have it ready by this fall so I can enter in the masquerade contest at Valley Con.
This is going to be interesting, and hopefully more successful than my atempt at making a Botan costume. (The wig looks **awful**.)
Thing is, now Mom wants me to fix a quilt. More like completely re-cover it.
I haven't the faintest idea where to start. @.@ Sewing is not my strong suit. I was able to get the kimono done rather fast because it's such a simple design.
Besides that, it's pretty much same old, same old. Still unemployed, still hoping to apply at Walmart when they get close to opening, still volunteering at the nursing home, still wishing I could have a pet. (Though hanging out with Sassy at the nursing home gift shop is almost as good.)Current Mood:  tired Current Music: computer game noises from upstairs. |

My Botan costum may be finished, but it definitely isn't perfect.
My real hair shows! T0T If I'm going to cosplay with this I need to find some way of hiding my hair. (Maybe a flesh-tone swim cap. Wonder if they make those?)
